Fall wreath

I must confess that I've never hung a Fall wreath let alone made a diy one from scratch.

I got inspired by none other than Pinterest! fall wreath diy are all over the place. Everywhere I turn there is Fall decor quickly replacing our summertime.

My interest to transcend into fall was minimal at first to say the least. I like to hang onto summer as long as I can because it's really all I have out here at the lake. Well not all...it's just the best season here.

I do love fall and spring. I'm going to make myself love winter this year too!

I'm not gonna lie, this wasn't the easiest wreath to make but it came out just like I wanted it to and I had almost everything at home already.

I should add that it would have been much easier if I would have wrapped it differently. The way I wrapped it was a time cruncher.

I used a foam board purchased at the Dollar Tree for none other than a buck. I used a cake cover as a template for the inside of the wreath and measured out a few inches for the outer wreath.

I cut along the lines with a utility knife.

Then using brown paper, (I used a roll of brown wrapping/craft paper I purchased at the Dollar Tree) I formed it to fill in the wreath. I used a little adhesive spray to keep the brown paper on the foam form until I was able to tape it up.

I just kept going until I was happy with the depth. Then I taped it all up with duct tape.

Then I wrapped it with white fleece and hot glued it in place as I went. In hindsight, cutting out a strip to lay on top and cover the entire width would have been much easier.

Now came the fun part...decorating.

I had bought a wooden "R" from Hobby Lobby when it was 1/2 off. I got a great deal.

I wrapped the letter with strips of burlap.

I wrapped some ribbon around the bottom and also used to tie at the top. I also got this at the Dollar Tree.

I made the pumpkins with left over fleece from making our capes and used burlap to make the stems. Some of them are mixed up a bit with lace and different stems.

I used floral wire to tie the letter to the wreath and hot glued some extra burlap over the wires to hide it.

I think it turned out pretty good.

Just so you know, I'm not affiliated with the Dollar Tree or anywhere for that matter. I just love the deals you can find there so I pick up things I think I may need in the near future when I get a chance. The closest store is 20 minutes away in any direction from our home except for a small gas station so I can't just pick up and run to the craft store if I need something.
